Combat Butler Hayate

Episodes 1-46
Episodes 47-52

Original release by SS-Eclipse

This show is simple, brainless nerd fun ... for those that find this kind of stuff funny. Which I don't. Sorry fanboys.

Short short synopsis: A debt ridden boy gets sold by his parents to the yakuza as organ donor. He avoids this fate by a weird twist of fate which places him in the employ of an incredibly rich small girl. As a butler he is both servant and bodyguard to the child, as well as her secret love interest also he is too thick to realize that.

He then is routinely pitted against assassins, giant robots, wild animals, assassins, weirdos, other butlers and more assassins.

Since that's obviously not stupid enough you are constantly graced by jibes and references to other animes. I didn't understand a single one. This might have to do with the annoying beep over every possible mention of an established (and better) brand name. Imagine watching a TV show where not just every utterance of "shit" or "fuck" gets censored but every single product name, too. Beeeeeeep !

Nah, this series is pure bullshit and I can't wait till i get this seeded and off my precious harddrive.

Sex & Violence: Cartoonish violence, no sex. I think. Had to avoid watching the complete show to preserve my sanity. But the show didn't look like the main characters would get some action anytime soon. Oh wait - I just remembered that Hayate is repeatedly forced to wear girls clothes to the joy of the maid of the house.

Conclusion: Avoid like hell. Unless you like this kind of shit, of course.

Shouldn't this series have 52 episodes?

52 it is ?
well, i got them all in a batch myself and i didn't occupy myself further with that series. i suppose i could try to get the rest.
just for the sake of a complete release (even though it's a wast of time). :)

and i fail to see how i'm being a hypocrite.

You're not very good if you couldnt understand a single reference..."kameha-beep" "gund-beep" should be obvious. Anyway, most of them are easy to pick.

Personally, I loved the show. Fourth wall breaking (ie: narator and character calling plot hole), and reference to pop culture (not just anime, but stuff like 300, matrix, star trek, and many video games) always made it interesting.

Only complain about the show is the annoying filler episodes. Nothing like certain anime, but it still break the pace.

Everyone should try ep#4 and #5 and figure out if the show is for them or not. Asking them to avoid it wont do any good.

i actually remembered the scene where the girl did a kamehamebeep and - to her surprise - succeded. That was actually quite funny, but it was just a background gag.

and i exagerate a bit when i say i didn't get any of the references. just about 1%.
Most of the time I have no clue why they bothered with a beep.

and in the end,it's a matter of taste.

Well, maybe that's why you don't like this series. If you haven't watched a lot of anime or played some visual novels, you won't get many of the references and parodies. It's a miracle if anyone actually manages to get all the references in a single Hayate The Combat Butler chapter/episode anyways, since some references are really, really obscure.

>Most of the time I have no clue why they bothered with a beep.

I'm pretty it has something to do with copyrights and stuff.

Anyway, thanks. I've been trying to find all the episodes for a while now.
