Poll & Stuff

  1. Anime 124 votes (55%)
  2. Hentai - 75 votes (33%)
  3. TV-Shows - 13 votes (5%)
  4. Porn - 9 votes (4%)
  5. Movies - 3 votes (1%)
Well, the poll results are quite clear: You want Anime, big surprise. Many want hentai, which isn't that surprising either. Although .... can someone tell me how you can, er, enjoy hentai on the iphone ? Do you have a stand for your device or do you just tolerate the shaky pictures ?

Anyway, looks like I can release the occasional naughtyness in order to satisfy one third of my customers. Although - since hentai is technically also anime I could provide full satisfation by only releasing hentai from now on. ;)

Nah, just kidding. Mainly anime, maybe hentai.

Cheers!

Poll results & aftermath

Like I already supected in Fun with site statistics the hentai faction won the day (although I ended the vote prematurately).
  1. Poll results:
  2. Hentai (35%)
  3. Mindfuck (25%)
  4. Comedy (14%)
  5. Serious thematics (10%)
  6. Slice-of-life (7%)
  7. Action (3%)
  8. Romance (3%)
And indeed, the top iPhoneReady downloads have a new entry:

Given that Gattsu is online for less than 3 days we can safely assume that hentai will dominate the download behaviour of the common iPhone user (and those that couldn't figure out that [iPhoneReady] means the release was converted to low-resolution iphone quality). Also note the soft-hearted romantics among you, who leeched Emma to #2.

Anyway, we have the mindfuckers as runner-up, which speaks for the willingness to stimulate your brain beyond the nether reaches of your pants. So the next release will be of exactly that strange genre.

Stay tuned !

Help seeding

Some of the old releases lack seeders and need charitable people who are willing to spend some time and bandwidth for your fellow iphone fans.
Of course, that people could be me, but I sometimes don't even have the original files, nor can I keep every single release online.

So please help out by keeping the torrents alive if possible by checking this list for zero-see-torrents: Seed Status

Update: oops, wrong link. Try again now. :)

Fun with site statistics

I felt lonely and unapreceated, so I went and searched for myself. With google.
Because I wanted to see how awesome my blog is (yeah, I know, you want the torrents, not my wisdom), I subscribed to the google analytics service, mainly to check out google analytics but also to see how popular my site is: not very.

Anyway, there are still some funny facts:
  • google-search for "iphone ready" lists me as #54. I guess I have to be grateful even for that, since apparently even Tom Cruise is iphone ready. XENU, DELIVER US FROM EVIL !!
  • google-search for "iphone ready anime" get's me the #1 spot, yay!
  • google-search for "iphone anime" dumps me at #18, right behind lots of anime wallpaper sites. Hmpf.
  • google-search for "iComics" lists me as #1. I wonder what the iComics author thinks about that. The iComics guide is the most popular page, too, according to google analytics.
  • google-analytics says that you spend an average 1:02 minutes on my blog each visit. I'll have to check how long it takes to read the crap I write, but it sounds about right. But apparently no one bothers to view the embedded youtube vids, eh ?
  • google-analytics says that you read fastest when visiting me on sundays. You manage reading in about half the time you usually need.
  • Country ranking:
    1. USA
    2. Canada
    3. Germany (we are so polyglot)
    4. Great Britain
    5. Japan (enjoying the english subs, eh ?)
  • Number 1 means of finding my blog: google. The most popular search term is not "iComics", "iphone ready" or even "iphone anime" btw... no, it's "iphone hentai" !
So, can I triple my site popularity by releasing iphone anime porn, can't I? I guess i'll have to try in a scientific experiment how comfortable it is watching iPorn one-handed.
  • The estimated advertising worth of my blog is 0.00$ . I'll have to start the iPorn thingy ...
Cheers! ^_^

Download link not working ?

If you try to follow the "Download here" links right now, you'll land nowhere.

Don't Panic !!!

Anirena.com is undergoing a major site overhaul and the old download-links are invalid. And the new ones don't work like they should, but that's going to change soon.

If you really really need one of the older torrents right now, just try to search for it at http://www.tokyotosho.com.

Cheers!

Update: The tokyotosho links were not working for a short time. This problem has been fixed.

Exporting Contacts from iPhone/iPod Touch to PC

I just received my new iPod Touch 16gb. My old one actually suffered a weird hardware malfunction that prevented it from starting up again.
Apple was kind enough to deliver a new one, even though my old one had some tiny dents in it's case (very very tiny, but apple is notorious for refusing to replace defective hardware on the basis, that they might be defective).

Anyway, I got a new one (complete with the new applications) and lost all contacts and bookmarks, which I assumed they'd been backed up by itunes.

So, does anyone know of a way to comfortably export or synchronize iphone/ipod contacts ?

I'm using Windows Vista, btw. I'd prefer to use Ubuntu, but iPods don't take well to Linux.

"Someone shoot Obama, please." - Hillary Clinton,

Did anyone follow the battle-for-presidency in the USA ?
It's likely going to be a democrat this time, but which one ?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/23/clinton-kennedy-assassina_n_103319.html

And now Hillary Clinton pulled another rabbit out of her campaign-strategy hat by saying: "My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. (Wink, Wink)".

Man, if that didn't sound like urging the white racists with guns to "hurry up and shot that black uppity bastard", then I don't know what does.

---
Anyway, this is not a political blog, this is iphone stuff and you'll probably wonder why I didn't release anything recently.

Well, looks like my mainboard has a scorched northbridge and I'm having problems getting the same one back. Sadly I can't just pick any mainboard because I was stupid enough to use the inbuilt nvidia-RAID to stripe two 300gb drives into a big fat 600 stripe. And I need a board (ASUS A8N-SLI deluxe) with the same raid controller or I can kiss my files goodbye.

I found one on ebay, bought and paid it, but the fucker didn't even answer to numerous emails and ebay-messages.... looks like I'll have to sue my money back and find yet another one.... aaargh ...

How to eat sushi the japanese way

I just went over to a japanese blog about japanese food/culture/history/anime .
I'll have to take bunbungirl's word for it because I don't understand a word since it's in japanese.

However, there is the universal internet-esperanto called youtube and thanks to that i learned a lot about how to correctly eat sushi in japan.

PS: And if you took that movie seriously then I might just have some iphone movies to sell for you ...

Number crunching

I looked over the amount of stuff I released over the last two-and-something months and couldn't resist to crunch the numbers in a spreadsheet.

Here's the result:
  • In the short time of less than three months I managed to seed 16 anime series and one manga.
  • The most popular download to day was Serei no Moribito (6,16 gb), which was snatched 548 times and has currently 17 leechers.
  • Least popular was Banner of the Stars (5,65 gb) with 78 snatches and 6 current leechers (this series is really good! Get it now !).
  • When assuming that all current leechers will finish their downloads, we get a total of 4664 completed downloads.
  • This amounts to 18458,67 GB of data - or over 18 terabytes.

That's pretty impressive. Imagine a PC filled with 37 500gb harddrives and you can picture the amount of data we are talking about.

And now I'll show you the reason why the inventor of bittorrent has earned his place in bit-heaven.
  • I'm seeding with 50 kb/s max. This means I need about 5 hours and 30 minutes to upload just 1 GB.
  • Without bittorrent or similiar p2p techniques you'd have to rely on a traditional fileserver.
  • If you'd want to download 18 TB of data (i.e. 18458,37gb) from a 50 kb/s fileserver, you'd have to leech for 102548,14 hours. That's more than 11 years of constant leeching instead of the elapsed two months.

Effective speed advantage:
Bittorrent : Fileserver
70 : 1

And thats not even considering that I don't a) constantly seed and b) I'm leeching (and thus seeding) other stuff myself.

And the punchline ?
Well, I gave you 11 years worth of downloads (ok, i admit the thousands of downloaders helped a little, too), so the least you can do is seed what you leeched !

If you tend to keep the downloaded stuff then please occasionally check the seeding status of my torrents and help seeding when you find an active torrent with zero seeds.

Cheers !
